Zak started gymnastics as a 6 year old at Tri-City Gymnastics Academy. He continued to pursue his gymnastics career for 10 years and rose to become class 1, which is equivalent to a level 10. In his final year of gymnastics he placed 1st on floor, vault and high bar at Washington's State competition.

Graduating high school in 2004, Zak went on to bigger and better things at Whitworth University in Spokane. Completing his degree in Communications in spring of 2008, Zak is now pursuing a career in Young Life.

Coaching has always been a strong suit for Zak and his passion for youth is evident to all he encounters. Zak has been coaching on and off for the past six years both as a volunteer at Mead High School's tumbling class and as a gymnastics instructor at Garland Gymnastics in Tri-Cities. Zak is USAG safety certified and a USAG Professional Member. He started coaching at Spokane Elite Gymnastics in December of 2008 and has already proved proficient in applying his knowledge of the technical points of gymnastics with instructing the Boys Competitive Team.

In his free time Zak enjoys time with his friends and family, rock climbing and the occasional Wii Sports Tournament.
