Marina Klyayn
Marina was born in Kaliningrad, Russia and started gymnastics at three years old. She is a second generation gymnastics coach, as her mother also teaches. Marina trained in Russia for 12 years and moved to the United States in 2002.
She coached at the International Gymnastics Centre, Pozsar's Gymnastics and Realis Gymnastics Academy in Sacramento, California where she coached alongside national coaches and former Olympians. Marina has worked with all levels and focused on TOPS, Pre-Team and Team gymnastics. Her favorite events to teach are beam, floor and vault. Marina's coaching style is positive, innovative and she is always looking for a way to keep drills interesting. Her goal is for every student to have a smile at the end of practice!
Marina received a full-ride scholarship and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Child Development from Sacramento State University. She loves working with all children and volunteered at Higher Learning Academy as a teacher assistant and at the Special Art Festival working with special needs children.
A very talented gymnast, Marina loves floor and tumbling. She won many awards throughout her career including Freshman of the Year in Gymnastics (2006) and Student Athlete of the Year (2009) and led the CSUS Woman's Gymnastics Team to two conference championships and NCAA Regional appearances.
Marina moved to Spokane in April of 2011 and started at Spokane Gymnastics right away. She believes gymnastics is the best sport ever and when she isn't in the gym she enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, watching comedy and spending time with family.
