Gymnastics League 2012
What is Gymnastics League?
The philosophy at Spokane Gymnastics is to offer an exceptional experience for every child; from preschoolers learning the fundamentals, to "playground heroes" showing off cartwheels at recess, to elite competitive gymnasts. With that goal in mind we are excited to once again offer a program that allows recreational gymnasts the opportunity to experience competitive gymnastics and be a part of a team.
With Gymnastics League, Spokane Gymnastics offers three in-house meets where gymnasts learn routines and perform on all Olympic events (Boys: Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars and High Bar; Girls: Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor Exercise).
Gymnasts enrolled in a level 2&3 class or higher are eligible to participate.
Gymnasts will be assigned to a team and perform individually, receiving a score for each event and the total of those scores compile the team overall score. Since the teams compete as a group, and are not ranked as individuals, this helps remove most of the jitters and Gymnastics League offers an encouraging and positive experience for all who participate.
Gymnasts who take part in Gymnastics League will learn their routines during regular classes plus we offer an optional weekly practice coached by a rotation of Spokane Gymnastics intermediate level instructors on Fridays from 5:30pm – 6:30pm from January 6 – March 23, 2012. Each additional practice costs $10.00 and does not require pre-registration.
Competitions:
Family members and friends are encouraged to come and support their gymnasts and there is no admission for spectators of League Gymnastics! At the conclusion of the meet athletes will be given their individual scores, plus ribbons and everyone receives a wonderful learning experience.
Meet Dates:
January 28, 2012
February 25, 2012
March 24, 2012
Gymnastics League warm-up begins at 1:30pm, march-in at 2:00pm, awards anticipated by 4:00pm
(Jumpers and Springers Teams will compete in separate session)
Uniform:
Boys: Black shorts with black tank or shirt tucked in.
Girls: Team Leotard - Red may be purchased for $35.00 (plus tax). Fitted shorts may be worn over leotard.
Total Commitment for League Gymnastics:
Cost: $50.00 non-refundable entry fee for 2012 League Gymnastics Season. The full amount is due prior to the first competition and must be paid regardless of whether gymnast participates with all three of the meets.
$35.00 for leotard (if needed)
$10.00 for each additional practice
Tryouts: Those gymnasts who would like additional information or to participate in League Gymnastics for the 2012 season should contact Molly or Nadine.

Spokane Gymnastics offers Parkour!!!
Instructed by Coach Tucker this class features urban gymnastics!
Spring Session - through June 18*
Monday 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Wednesday 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Friday 6:30pm - 7:30pm * June 24 special Parks and Rec Session
Parkour is the physical discipline of training to overcome any obstacle within one's path by adapting one's movements to the environment. It is a non-competitive, physical discipline of French origin in which participants run along a route, attempting to negotiate obstacles in the most efficient way possible. Skills such as jumping and climbing, or the more specific parkour moves are employed. The goal of a practitioner of parkour is to get from one place to another using only the human body and the objects in the environment. The obstacles can be anything in one's environment, but parkour is often seen practiced in urban areas because of the many suitable public structures available such as buildings and rails.
Summer Session:
July 11 - September 3
Monday 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Wednesday 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Under New Ownership!
We are excited to announce some changes to your gymnastics program! Spokane Elite Gymnastics was established over 30 years ago and since 1999 has been owned by John Sweeney, President of Seattle Gymnastics Academy, Inc. Mr. Sweeney has decided to focus on expanding his gyms in the Seattle area (where he currently has three locations and is in the process of opening a new facility) and gave me the option of buying Spokane Elite Gymnastics. I am excited about this unexpected opportunity and became the new owner on July 1, 2010.
We had a smooth transition and will continue to provide all the programs that you currently enjoy. We will also continue to have our incredible team of coaches: Betsy, Dmitry, Zak, Jordan, Tucker, Germaine, Tara, Seth, Emma and Jaclyn. Molly will serve as Manager, Head Coach, and Girls Team Director and daily operations will remain the same. We miss Rachel's enthusiastic and knowledgeable coaching style when she relocated to Seattle earlier this summer.
We will offer the same prices and all memberships will continue uninterrupted. While our focus remains on recreational gymnastics, we are excited to provide expanded options for competitive gymnasts. We will introduce a “Pre-Team” program, expand our Gymnastics League Competitions, and add tumbling classes with a focus on floor skills. Our USAG Boys Junior Olympic Team and Girls Rec-Op programs remain a priority and we look forward to another great season!
I would like to thank you for your confidence in us and continued support. We love teaching and look forward to continuing to offer a safe and fun gymnastics experience! As always, if you have any questions or if there is anything that I may do to assist please don't hesitate to contact me; either at the gym 509-533-9646 or directly on my mobile phone 509-590-6177.
